Conor Benn crushes Chris Eubank in a rematch

Conor Benn crushes Chris Eubank in a rematch and seal an unanimous victory at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Eubank, who had won on points when they first met in April, appeared timid throughout the match and was unable to respond to Benn’s power.

Benn had a comfortable lead heading into the final round, when he floored Eubank twice before triumphantly climbing to the ropes to celebrate as the final bell rang. The judges gave Benn the scores of 119-107, 116-110, and 118-108.

“This is the end of the Benn-Eubank saga, it’s over. Chris is expecting twins and I have my little boy, but that’s it,” Benn said.”Everyone says I can’t box, put it in a pipe and smoke it.

“This wouldn’t have been what it was without Chris. Our fathers especially, this is a generational issue, never seen before in history. Kudos to Chris, thank you for sharing the ring with me.

“He’s been labeled a brawler throughout his career, but he proved he had so much more to offer by sealing this victory.

After moving up two divisions to make this fight happen, he achieved something his father Nigel was unable to do in the 1990s – earning victory against a Eubank.

“Not bad for two silver spoon kids!,” Benn said, in a reference to both fighters growing up with famous dads.

“I fancy [Mario] Barrios for the WBC world title, Ryan Garcia, [Rolly] Romero, Devin Haney, all of them can get it. Any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.”

Benn, 29, said he brought too much emotion to the April fight, after a two-and-a-half-year buildup to having his suspension for failing a drug test lifted in 2022.

But this time, he appeared much more composed, returning with a more intelligent plan, mixing pure aggression and carefully selected shots to systematically break down Eubank.

For Eubank, he finds himself at a crossroads in his career at 36, after a lackluster performance, despite the personal importance of the fight.

“I’ve been through hell and back to get to this night, it is what is it,” Eubank said.”It’s 1-1, I have to go away and deal with some of the things I’ve been dealing with over the past few months.”I tried my best, the kid fought hard, he has power. We put on a show, Benn was the better man tonight.”

The family feud began almost exactly 35 years ago, when Chris Eubank Sr. defeated Nigel Benn on November 18, 1990, before the two faced each other in a draw three years later.

Although there was no title on the line, the rivalry was so strong that it attracted some big names from the worlds of sport and entertainment.

Actors Jeremy Piven and Pierce Brosnan, musicians Emma Bunton and Rod Stewart, and former Arsenal footballer Thierry Henry were among the stars in attendance at ringside.

Trying to recreate the magic of their first fight would have been a daunting task, and it failed to draw a sold-out crowd.

The arrival of the Eubanks, both expected this time also offered an interesting glimpse into the crowd’s reaction, with boos ringing throughout the stadium. It was all applause, however, when Benn was shown getting out of his car.

Benn made his entrance to thunderous applause, alongside his father, Nigel. They were accompanied to the ring by a percussion group, who began with Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” before transitioning into a remix of the Fugees’ “Ready or Not.”

Eubank Jr. came in second, wearing a white fur coat, accompanied by his father, Eubank Sr. They were initially greeted with boos, until American rapper 50 Cent took the stage to perform a medley of songs as they made their way through the crowd.

Benn started the fight on the offensive, consistently finding his feet with powerful right shots to the head and body. The 29-year-old quickly gained the upper hand, while Eubank appeared hesitant and listless.

Trainer Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre urged Eubank to “turn this into a fight,” as it became clear he would have to make some drastic changes heading into the eighth round.

But he struggled to find his rhythm and continued to bite Benn’s feints before being forced back into the corners.

Eubank Sr. left his post to deliver a message from the corner before the ninth, calling for greater urgency and reminding his son that only four rounds remained. As they prepared to enter the twelfth, Benn asked his corner, “What round is this?” But when he realized there were only three minutes left, he went wild, finishing with a flourish that brought the crowd to their feet.

Benn landed a jab to the face and quickly followed with a right to the temple to floor Eubank for the first time, before immediately switching to the offensive and knocking his opponent down again seconds later.

Eubank survived until the final bell, but could only watch Benn walk away to celebrate with his family, who had waited 35 years for a victory over the Eubanks.

“There was a lot of pressure on me to finish this tonight, I felt it. Not from the world, I just wanted to honor the family name,” Benn said.”I did it, man! We’re just getting started.”
